This session was apparently sponsored by Blick and La Croix.
The only supplies for Session Four were black acrylic paint and cheap brushes.
The minimal supplies allowed for a more freeform session that wouldn’t influence any design style.
Designers also had the option to sketch out ideas on scrap paper before committing to paint.
The concept of a second half was mostly kept a secret to the group until the brightly colored paints were brought out.
It was ensured that designers would not have repeat letters between the two sessions.
The rules did not state whether or not the paint could be mixed, so some liberties were taken.
The first round alphabet was hidden away so no one would be influenced by earlier letterforms.
In a Gestalt first, the group left the workshop not knowing what the final letterforms would look like - they would only be revealed to the group about a week after the session concluded.
