Gestalt University Poster

Type Design | Poster

A poster promoting the third Gestalt workshop, hosted at Montclair State University.

In this session, two groups of students were given hundreds of letterform fragments cut into 2x2 inch squares to reassemble into a new unique alphabet. The typefaces used were Akademie, Bodoni, Caslon, Clarendon, and Futura.

The poster was designed to represent the workshop materials in their most honest form by using the chopped up A-Z characters from each typeface as its backdrop, creating a dense and dazzling pattern. Overlaid in orange ink is “Montclair Typography Workshop” set in a custom display typeface created just for the Gestalt project.
